What is Ayurveda

In the ancient language of Sanskrit, AYUR signifies 'Life' while VEDA embodies 'knowledge'. Thus, when combined, AYURVEDA directly translates to the wisdom of life. To grasp Ayurveda is to possess a roadmap for nurturing both mental and physical well-being, essentially holding the keys to optimal health and vitality.

Ayurveda, originating in India over 5,000 years ago, remains a timeless guide for overall wellness. It combines ancient wisdom with scientific principles to create a holistic approach that harmonises the connections between the body, mind, and soul.

Imagine a universe where five elements - Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Space - unite to form unique personal blueprints known as doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. The doshas interact uniquely within each person, influencing their physical, mental, and emotional tendencies.

Vata, the ethereal force, governs motion and creativity, much like the wind dancing through the trees. Pitta, fiery and passionate, fuels your digestion and ambition, akin to a blazing inferno. Then there's Kapha, sturdy and nurturing, embodying the stability of a mountain and the gentle flow of a river.

In the art of Ayurveda, balance is key. It's like finding the perfect blend in a complex recipe, where too much or too little of an ingredient could spoil the dish. When these doshas are in harmony, your body sings with vitality, but imbalances may lead to disharmony and ailments. Ayurveda endeavours to heal by restoring our three doshas to their innate equilibrium, addressing the root cause of ailments and fostering optimal well-being with a nurturing touch.

Ayurvedic healers, like skilled artisans, study your unique constitution to prescribe personalised treatments. They might suggest some lifestyle tweaks, diet modifications, herbal concoctions, therapeutic massages, yoga poses, and meditative practices to restore.

The concept of Agni in Ayurveda is indeed central to understanding one's digestive and overall health. In Ayurveda, Agni refers to the digestive fire or metabolic processes within the body responsible for transforming food into energy and bodily tissues, playing a crucial role in maintaining overall health and well-being.

Think of it as a holistic journey, not just to treat diseases, but to nurture wellness, bringing your entire being into a harmonious state where health thrives and vitality flourishes.

M.K.

“Mina is nothing short of amazing. I contacted Mina after a year of ill health and a series of private consultant appointments and scans which unfortunately couldn’t diagnose my issue. This had become extremely frustrating as I was not able to get a solution and was still suffering. During my first consultation with Mina, I understood the cause of my health issues and how they were related to the beliefs of Ayurveda. She spent sufficient time gathering key information and getting to the bottom of the problem. This was followed by a comprehensive plan which suggested some very practical lifestyle changes. I have managed to introduce some of the suggested changes and have noticed a difference in my health. She is passionate, caring and motivating. I am glad I found her at the time I needed the most help.”
